A-bombed Tree

Weeping Willow
((Tsurumi Bridge))
20 Hijiyama Honmachi, Minami-ku, Hiroshima (Tsurumi Bridge)

  (2009.3.29)
The thick trunk that was slanted was subjected to the atomic bomb,
and the trunk on the left is the trunk that grew up after the bombing.
This tree managed to survive despite the damage from the typhoon,
but the trunk that had been exposed died in the fall of 2007.

(2010.1.10)
After returning to the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art in Hijiyama for a special exhibition,
I wondered what the winter was like.
Living trees and trees that have reached the end of their lives. . .

(2011.4.2)
I photographed this weeping willow as I was shooting cherry blossoms along the Kyobashi River.
The dead trunk does not have leaves or flowers, of course,
but it looks like it has leaves because the young trees have widely spread branches and leaves.

(2012.4.7)
It's about time the flowers are blooming, so I came to see this weeping willow.
It is a tree with a good tree shape among the bombed trees.
The beautiful shades of fresh green and flowers are beautiful.

  (2013.3.28)

The weather is bad today, so the picture doesn't look very good,
but the flowers are in full bloom.
If the sky is blue, the colors of the flowers will come out beautifully. . .

  (2015.11.7)

The autumn leaves of the weeping willow have a withered color.
I want to record the four seasons of this tree.

  (2016.5.4)

The best time to see the fresh green (and flowers) of the weeping willow is around April,
so it's a bit late,
but I was wondering about the fresh green at this time when the flowers are over and the leaves are growing.
The leaves are green with a little freshness.

  (2016.11.6)

The autumn leaves of the weeping willow are not so beautiful, but the weather seems to be good,
so I brought my camera with me to shoot with the blue sky.
There was also a wind on this day, so I took a picture with a slow shutter.

  (2017.4.9)

I visited to shoot the flower,
but it seems that it was a little late because the flower was beginning to scatter.
A sparrow was coming over the flowers.

  (2017.5.3)

The freshness of fresh green has changed to deep green.
The hot season is about to come.

  (2017.6.18)

I'm shooting while going to Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art,
so it's been about a month since the last time, so I'll take a picture.
I am glad that there is a blue sky during the rainy season.

  (2017.8.27)

I visited to shoot the summer scene.
The volume of the leaves has increased more than before, and the vigor seems to be good.

  (2017.11.23)

I visited in the clear autumn.
The wind was strong and the trees were full of dynamism.

  (2018.1.3)

As usual, I stopped by to shoot while visiting the Museum of Contemporary Art.
I thought it would be lonely because there were no leaves because it was winter,
but the leaves that remained were turning red in gold and shining in the sun.

  (2018.4.1)

The best time for flowers has passed, but they have been waiting for me in a beautiful appearance.

  (2018.9.23)

I visited to take a picture of early autumn.
The picture was darker in the cloudy sky,
but I wasn't going to Hiroshima for a while because of the heavy rain disaster,
so I was relieved after a long time of meeting.

  (2018.11.25)

I visited to shoot autumn leaves.
The autumn leaves of the weeping willow are not so beautiful,
but they had a volume and a healthy appearance.

  (2019.1.3)

I was thinking of shooting dead branches in silhouette,
but there were many leaves that did not fall,
and they glowed golden.

  (2019.5.6)

  ” I'm fine this year too! ”

  (2019.8.18)

I visited to take a picture of the state of midsummer.
Because of the cloudy sky, I can't help but be unable to shoot the summer sun and the blue sky.
It does not lose heat, and it is covered with many leaves.

  (2019.10.26)

Although it is the time of autumn leaves,
the weeping willow is not so beautiful, and it feels like it is dead and withered.
Illuminated by the evening light.

  (2020.1.4)

When I left the Museum of Contemporary Art, the light in the evening was nice,
but when I came down while photographing with camphor trees and cherry trees,
the good light of the sunset had ended by the time I arrived at this tree.

  (2020.9.22)

This time I took an infrared shot.
You can feel the movement of the branches of the weeping willow, and the snow effect is good.

  (2020.12.9)

The season is winter, but the leaves have not fallen yet.
When it gets colder, the leaves will fall and new leaves and soft flowers will hang down in the spring.

  (2021.4.8)

The flowers of Weeping willow were over, but the green leaves were fluttering in the wind.

(2021.12.12)
Take an infrared photo (green and pink as false colors).
The true color of the leaves is a mixture of green and yellow.
The grass that covered the trees has disappeared and it is in good condition.

(2022.4.2)
April is the time when fresh greenery and flowers are beautiful.
This tree will grow many leaves from now on and will be swayed by the wind.

(2023.3.25)

Spring is the season to enjoy the weeping willow flowers.
Cherry blossoms are famous in spring in Japan, but I would like you to see the weeping willows as well.

(2023.5.28)

(2023.10.29)

(2023.11.29)

(2024.2.18)
Although weeping willow is a deciduous tree, some of its leaves remain without falling even in winter.
The way the remaining leaves shine in the sunlight feels like the radiance of this tree's vitality.

 <How to visit>
